In addition to typical personal Injury claims, such as
a Motor Vehicle Collision, The Law Office of Randall J.
Wolfe, PC also emphasizes claims involving Civil Sexual
Abuse, Dram Shop Claims and Medical Negligence. These
complicated claims require experienced legal representation
to protect the rights of these truly innocent victims.
What are these types of claims? . . .
CIVIL SEXUAL ABUSE-In a Criminal Sexual Abuse action,
the State prosecutes the perpetrator with the primary
penalty being incarceration. In a Civil Sexual Abuse action,
the victim or his or her representative brings a claim
against the wrongdoer or his or her representative where
money compensation is sought. Many times, the victims
require lifetime counseling and intervention. The Civil
Sexual Abuse claim is often the only source of funds available
to bring justice directly to the victim.
DRAM SHOP CLAIMS-A Dram Shop claim is against
an entity that provides alcoholic beverages to a visibly
intoxicated person, who then goes out and harms another.
A common occurrence is a drunk driver who was served liquor
while visibly intoxicated and then causes an auto collision.
These claims can result in catastrophic injury far beyond
the typical driver's automobile insurance limits. Early
hiring of a qualified attorney is often crucial to the
success of these claims.
MEDICAL NEGLIGENCE-We don't like to think about
it, but even doctors, dentists and nurses make serious
mistakes. When a doctor's treatment is below the appropriate
standard of care and that causes injury, the results can
be most unfortunate. These claims require an attorney
with a working knowledge of both medicine and the law,
and who has independent medical professionals to assist
in the preparation and evaluation of claims.
A SAMPLING OF RECENT RANDALL J. WOLFE, PC CASES IN THESE
AREAS*
Sex Abuse-N.W. v. Portland Public Schools, US District
Court, Oregon. In this case, we represented a victim
of sexual abuse while at school. Claims were made for
both violation of Civil Rights and Negligence. Shortly
before trial, this claim was settled for a confidential
amount.
Dram Shop-D.B. v. CC Slaughters, Multnomah County,
Oregon. In this case, we represented a motorcyclist
who was struck from the rear by a drunk driver, alleged
to have been served alcohol while visibly intoxicated
at a local tavern. Shortly after depositions, this claim
was resolved for a substantial sum.
Medical Negligence-T.J. v. Willamette Surgical Center,
Marion County, Oregon. In this case, our client was
treated with an injection in her neck to relieve pain
after an auto collision. She became temporarily paralyzed
and suffered significant permanent impairment as a result.
Shortly before trial against the doctor, the claim was
settled, benefiting our client for the harm done to her.
